Can you clarify if the Canon EOS 80D is considered a CCD camera? I thought it used a CMOS sensor instead.

  2. Brian X. Scott June 25, 2026 at 6:29 pm

What are the main differences in image quality between CCD and CMOS sensors? I’ve heard that CCD is better for low light, but I’m not sure if that’s always the case.

    • Molly N. Green July 23, 2026 at 5:43 pm

I’ve been using a CCD camera for a while, and I definitely notice less noise in low-light conditions compared to my old CMOS. But it also depends on the camera model.

      Carmen J. Moore July 22, 2026 at 2:42 pm

Great question! CCD sensors typically have better image quality in low light due to their efficient light capture. However, many modern CMOS sensors have improved significantly and can also perform well in low-light situations.

  3. I recently purchased the Nikon D850 based on your recommendation, and I’m blown away by the image quality. The detail is just incredible! I haven’t had a chance to test it in low light yet, but I can already tell it’s going to be a game-changer for my landscape photography.
