Pros

GoPro Hero5 Black is able to shoot 12MP RAW images – which gives you more control over editing the photos and the wide dynamic range mode providing you with even more details in shadows highlighted areas and in various uneven lighted conditions.

The 4k video resolution brings a lot of high quality videos. As well as well-exposed images in JPG format which is about 5-7MB per picture which saves a lot of space on your SD Card.

The new  part-rubber housing although a bit more prone to scratches provides for a better protection against knock and harsh environments. Although the lens protector is a lot more scratch resistant there are replacement lens protectors offered.

Wide array of accessories, mounts, and clamps, for pretty much every possible situation, are available for the GoPro Hero5 Black.

Since it is up to 33 feet waterproof it is ideal for water sport activities such as surfing, jet skiing, rowing and swimming. You might want to consider upgrading your old GoPro camera to the new one if you fancy yourself some water activities.

It is a stand alone camera, or at least as much as it can be expected, changing the settings is no longer a bothersome activity.

The Touch Interface is much more intuitive and the menus a quite straight-forward.

The Linear-view setting that corrects distortion in the wide-angle photos and videos and thus mitigating the fish-eye effect is a great feature, especially when using it with the new Karma drone.

The voice control system that has been introduced with GoPro Hero 5 makes things a bit easier, no longer do you need to be physically touching the camera for it to do something you want it to do. It does support 7 languages and various commands, that can be used for recording a videos, shooting high-quality pictures, picking up the highlights of your videos, and etc.

The 1220mAh lithium-ion battery is not built-in as opposed  to the GoPro Hero5 Session.

Cons

The sometimes glitchy touch screen is the biggest downside of the GoPro Hero5 Black, if this is important for you, you might consider swapping it with the GoPro Hero 5 Session model, which offers virtually the same array of features on a more attractive price.

No optic image stabilization which sometimes provides for a better image quality than the digital one.

Slightly larger and heavier than its predecessors. It is important to notice that the GoPro Hero 5 does not float so you might need to keep an eye on the camera. Or the other side you can take advantage of the GoPro Floaty Backdoor Accessory that will definitely make the camera floatable a lot easier to spot in the water.

The voice command are responsive, but if you are going to use the camera in noisy or windy places, you might need a wireless voice remote.

GoPro introduces their new GoPro Plus service

The new GoPro Plus subscription service is a cloud store service. The subscription comes to a small fee of $4.99 per month

Allowing you to automatically upload your video and pictures via Wi-Fi when you are charging in your camera.

When uploaded you can easily edit your content using the android, iOS, or your computer using the apps provided

One of the downsides of the cloud service is that when uploading your videos they will be converted automatically to 1080p@30fps regardless of what the original was.

Who will like GoPro Hero5 Black

Even though this is high durable action camera, you might like it even if you consider creating home movies. It is suitable for both action on the street and at home. The GoPro Hero5 Black could prove to be a great asset to every water activity.
